Frequently Asked Questions

I think I qualify for the Xcel Energy Residential Income-Qualified Programs. How do I apply?

If you are an Xcel Energy customer in Colorado, you may apply for income-qualified rebates and incentives. Follow the income verification steps on this website. After your submission is complete, the status of the application will be approved or denied based on program income parameters. If, during the review of your application, it is determined that additional information is required, we will email you regarding the necessary documentation to complete your application and provide instructions on how to submit it securely.

What questions should I be prepared to answer?

To start the application, you will need the first and last names of the Xcel Energy account holder. Next, if you are enrolled in a qualifying public assistance program, you will need to provide your approval letter or documentation demonstrating your current status. If you are not currently enrolled in a qualifying public assistance program, you will need to provide household details, including proof of income for all household members. A list of income verification documents is provided here. Household members are those who live with you and for whom you are financially responsible (for example, spouse, children or other dependent family members).

How do I know my income qualification application has been approved?

When all appropriate documents are submitted, each submission is reviewed and vetted for qualification. When a review has been completed, the applicant is notified of their application’s status, either approved or denied, via email and in their dashboard.

How long does it take to receive the Income-Qualified rebates and incentives from Xcel Energy?

If you have applied and are approved for participation in the residential income-qualified programs, you will work with an energy advisor to coordinate upgrades to your home with eligible Trade Partners. Xcel Energy will pay the applicable rebates directly to the contractors based on the work being done, so you, as the customer, will not have to wait for payment.

My income qualification application was approved. How long is my approval valid?

Approval is valid for 365 days. If it is not used, the applicant will need to reapply for income eligibility.
